A princess is a member of the royal family, usually the daughter of a king or queen, or the wife of a prince. In the film industry, a princess is also a character who is the main star of a movie or show. A man who addresses a woman as a princess might be referring to her as his girlfriend or love interest. She may also be a friend or relative of his. Alternatively, a princess might be a reference to a girl who is beautiful and regal in appearance.
The cult of the princess is well documented, but it would be a mistake to assume that this fascination with pink-clad girls and their adventures has nothing to do with the cultural colonization of children’s minds by consumer culture. For many little girls, especially those under five, princesses represent the pinnacle of all that is desirable for them.
Princesses, by definition, are portrayed as a beautiful female who has a magical ability to transform herself into something more beautiful than she is in her human form. This ability to alter their appearance and behavior is what has made them so popular with young girls.
Princesses are also known for their benevolent nature towards animals and their ability to communicate with them. Merida and Raya are the only two Princesses who have not shown this capacity to commune with animals in their films, but both of them have shown that they possess a good heart and have strong moral integrity.
